Free Britney mural appears in Heaton as concerned fans show support for singer

A mural in honour of Britney Spears has appeared in Heaton as concerned fans show support for the singer after she spoke out about the extent of her much publicised conservatorship.

Documentaries like Sky's Framing Britney Spears, featured Britney 's attempts to remove her father from her conservatorship; a court-appointed guardianship usually reserved for elderly and infirm people, or anyone who cannot make their own decisions.

And on Wednesday, the music megastar responsible for hits like Baby One More Time, Toxic and Everytime, appeared to court asking for the connservatorship, which has been in place since 2008, to end.

Giving her testimony, the 39-year-old told a judge: "This conservatorship is doing me way more harm than good. I'm not happy, I can't sleep. I'm so angry and I cry every day."

In the emotional 23 minute statement, Britney, 39, also claimed she'd been 'forced' to tour in 2018 after being threatened with legal action if she didn't.

She added: "I've been in denial. I've been in shock. I am traumatised.

Fans the world over as well as celebrities including Britney's famous ex Justin Timberlake, have spoken out in support of her after being left horrified by her claims.

And now Geordie fans can pose next to a mural in her honour, which has appeared on a wall on Heaton Road.

The new artwork is from the hand of well respected Newcastle-based artist Mul, the person behind many other creations across Tyneside, including the much photographed Young Hearts Run Free mural near the Tyne Bar.

The mural, which has a love heart cartoon with a ball and chain on its foot, has had a huge reaction on social media as Mul urged people to share the photo.

The comments feed of the post was quickly filled with positive reactions, with one follower responding: "YES!!" and another writing "Love it!"

A big fan of the Britney mural and Mul's other work, another Instagram user wrote: "Please do prints of these! I would buy all of them."
