West Lothian College is offering a free, blended learning course to women looking to re-enter the workplace.
Through the Edinburgh and South East Scotland City Regional Deal, the college is offering data science courses aimed at women coming back into the workplace after taking a break. These courses offer a flexible learning environment to fit around commitments such as childcare.
Equate Scotland will offer training sessions that will complement college delivery.
Equate Scotland helps women studying and working in areas like science, technology and engineering to succeed by supporting their recruitment, retention and progression.
When they complete the course students will gain a National Progression Award qualification that can be used to get a job in the digital sector or progress to the next level of study at college.
If you want to enhance your technology or digital skills to improve your employment prospects or progress in education this course is perfect for you. You will gain skills in using a wide range of information tools to help you work with, and take advantage of, information in your personal, social and work life.
College sales officer Angela Bell said: “As a woman returning to the workplace myself a few years ago I see the benefit of this partnership. Students will gain an insight into a career in a new area, achieve a qualification and have someone there to help them through the course.”
Data skills are increasing in demand with countless opportunities for personal and professional growth in medicine, manufacturing, cyber security and many other areas.
