If your kids are dinosaur mad then you won't want to miss this special event in Belfast.

Belfast City Council are urging families to come along and hunt for dinosaurs in Botanic Gardens and enjoy a host of fun dino-themed activities while you're there.

Hosted by the Lord Mayor Deirdre Hargey, the event will raise funds for The Children's Heartbeat Trust, one of the Lord Mayor's chosen charities.

Auditions for The Voice UK are coming to Belfast this month

There will be family fun and activities for all ages, including:

  • dino robotics
  • dinosaur walkabout acts
  • exotic animals
  • bouncy castle
  • face painting
  • craft workshops
  • archery
  • fitness freddy and much more.

The Lord Mayor said: "This will be a great afternoon out for all ages where you can walk with and hunt for dinosaurs and also help support and raise funds for one of my charities this year - the Children's Heartbeat Trust.  Entry is free so why not come along to Botanic Gardens this Saturday and take a memorable step into the Jurassic world."

Cathy Dalton, from the Children’s Heartbeat Trust, said: ''We are delighted to be involved with the Lord Mayor's event this Saturday. This event coincides with our annual Heart Week to raise awareness of Congenital Heart Disease (CHD).

"Over 200 babies each year are born with a heart condition in Northern Ireland and this event is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the impact CHD has on heart families and the work of the charity to provide emotional and practical support to those affected.  For more information on our work, please visit  www.childrensheartbeattrust.org ''

Northern Ireland weather boost as temperatures set to soar to 17C in May

The event runs from 1pm-4pm at Botanic Gardens on Saturday, May 11 and is free admission.
