Free agent striker Abel Hernandez reportedly on Nottingham Forest's radar again

Nottingham Forest have reportedly reignited their interest in ex-Hull City striker Abel Hernandez.

The Reds have been linked with the 28-year-old before – both last summer and back in January.

Hernandez is now a free agent after leaving Russian side CSKA Moscow, and, according to reports in his homeland of Uruguay he has a number of offers on the table.

Forest are reported to be one of the clubs with an eye on the front man, as well as Qatari outfit Al-Rayyan, while Turkish team Trabzonspor were previously said to be keen.

Earlier this week, Hernandez told Sport890 he was considering his options and would not rule out a return to Penarol, in Uruguay, where he had a spell earlier in his career.

“I am a fan of Penarol. If Penarol calls me it will be one of my priorities,” he said.

He is also eager to use his form for his next club to earn a recall to the national side. “I have to break it in my next club,” he added.

Hernandez scored three goals in 15 appearances for CSKA last term, having made the move there from Hull last summer.

He also counts Italian side Palermo and Uruguayan team Central Espanol as his former clubs.

Forest are understood to be assessing the forward options they already have at the City Ground while also pondering a bid for another striker.

Karim Ansarifard and Hillal Soudani have left this summer, while Daryl Murphy is among a group of players told they are free to move on.
