Free-agent DT Gerald McCoy visiting Panthers after stay with Ravens

The Baltimore Ravens seemingly did everything they could to woo free-agent defensive tackle Gerald McCoy this week. McCoy came to Baltimore on Wednesday but stayed into Thursday evening before leaving. McCoy is set to visit with the Carolina Panthers on his trip around the NFL.

Though the Ravens couldn’t get a deal done on the spot, it wasn’t for a lack of trying. Baltimore brought in safeties Tony Jefferson and Earl Thomas along with defensive coaches to meet with McCoy. The visit just so happened to synch up with former Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata’s official retirement with the team — a press conference McCoy sat through.

While McCoy left without a deal, it appears that the decision is between just three teams — the Cleveland Browns, Ravens and Panthers. However, it seems like Baltimore pulled out all the stops to ensure McCoy recognized he’d be appreciated and taken care of with the Ravens.
