Freddie Woodman shuts out Rangers transfer noise as Preston goalkeeper hints summer decision is already made

Goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has insisted he is loving life at Preston North End amid speculation over a move to Rangers in the summer.

Woodman has been reported as a summer transfer target for the Light Blues, with the England U21 cap reportedly being considered as a successor for 41-year-old Allan McGregor between the sticks this summer. Woodman has previous Scottish Premiership experience at Aberdeen and Kilmarnock on loan from Newcastle United, who he left for Preston permanently last summer.

Reports south of the border claim Rangers had a scout at the Lancashire side's 0-0 draw with Coventry City, with a £3.5million price tag touted. However, boss Ryan Lowe moved to distance his number one from a move north of the border when he joked it would take a whopping £20million to take Woodman from the English Championship. The former Aberdeen loanee appears to be in no rush to leave his club in the summer after less than a season in the second tier.

The 25-year-old has moved to reiterate that his is loving life at Preston, with the club looking towards a late surge to the English Championship playoff spots. Asked by Lancashire Post if he had got everything he wanted from a move to Deepdale amid links of a move to Rangers, Woodman said: “It is and it makes it even better coming to a place where I've settled so well.

"I've made some really good friends and I come into work every day and I love it. I love being part of the team and being part of the club.

"I couldn't have asked for it to go better in terms of that. I'm really enjoying it and hoping to keep improving in the team.”
