Freddie Woodman's Newcastle United ultimatum as Swansea City handed good and bad transfer news

Freddie Woodman will look to leave Newcastle United this summer if Steve Bruce can't guarantee him playing time.

Football Insider report that Woodman will hold talks with United top brass when the season concludes over where he fits into their plans.

Woodman has done very well during his loan stint with Swansea City, playing every minute of the Championship campaign to date, producing a number of decent performances and starring with penalty-save heroics.

He has been an assured presence between the sticks for Steve Cooper, who spoke at a fans' forum earlier this year about his hopes of keeping the stopper beyond his loan contract.

"We'd all love Freddie to stay for longer than the season," said Cooper.

"Whether that's possible, we'll have a look in the summer. I think he'd definitely like to.

"The affection the fans have shown Freddie, I think he really feels it and likes to show it back because it's mutual."

Bruce too has been impressed with the 23-year-old, and has been keeping a close eye from the north east. The Toon boss has Martin Dubravka as his number one, with Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot as understudies on Tyneside.

Speaking about his options, Bruce said: “We’re very, very fortunate that we’ve got three or four good goalkeepers.

“The kid at Swansea – who we’re monitoring – is doing very, very well. Karl is very, very decent. I see him every day. He’s a very good goalkeeper, so if he gets his chance, I have no problem that he’ll be a very good deputy for him [Martin].”

Woodman has developed a bond with Swansea fans since joining last summer and news that he is considering his future will be a boost to Cooper's hopes of keeping him.

But St James' Park insiders believe Woodman's value to have soared to £10million - a fee well out of Swansea's price range. At that figure, the Liberty side could only hope for another loan deal.

Tottenham and Everton have been credited with interest in Woodman, but one would imagine that he will be at a club who can give him game-time next season.
