Freddie Woodman has stated that he hopes to play for Swansea City again - despite his loan stay now having come to an end.
The Newcastle loanee had a stellar campaign in Wales, keeping an impressive 21 clean sheets on his way to winning the Championship golden glove.
However, it wasn't the fairytale conclusion the 'keeper would have dreamed of, with disappointment in the play-off final as the Swans lost 2-0 against Brentford on Saturday.
With the 24-year-old's loan spell coming to an end, there remain question marks over where he will be plying his trade come September, with many believing he has shown the capabilities to make the step to play regular Premier League football.
football.london reported in January that Arsenal had Woodman on a shortlist of players the club were looking at to solve their goalkeeping problem and that they had been tracking him since the end of the 2019/20 season, when he finished his initial spell with the Swans.
However, since then, the England Under-21 international's father, Andy, who was head of goalkeeping for the Gunners' under-23 side, has left his role.
Whether that changes the club's view on the goalkeeper remains to be seen, however Woodman may have already signalled his firm intentions to Arsenal, amid reports Bernd Leno could leave this summer.
"It's probably been the best two years of my life playing here. I've fallen in love with the place and developed so much," he told Swansea's club website.
"I just wanted to get over the line for the city, I know how much they wanted us in that big league, so I'm absolutely gutted.
"I hope this isn't the last game I play in a Swansea shirt.
"The main thing is to sort out my next step; if that's in a Swansea shirt then brilliant but if it's not, I have to crack on and that's football.
"I'm a Swansea City fan now; I'll be looking out for their results straight away, but football's a funny game and anything can happen. We'll see what happens."
football.london understands Leno would potentially be open to leaving Arsenal this summer, although the man himself insists he is happy in north London.
"I am still happy at Arsenal. Arsenal is still a big club, a big name in the world and in the Premier League," Leno told Sky Sports earlier this month.
"There is nobody in the dressing room who says 'I want to leave the club, I am not happy here anymore'.
"We still have a good environment at the club and in the dressing room. Of course, at times it was not easy this season, but this is part of football.
"It's not good to feel sorry for ourselves, we need to move forward and change it to a positive as soon as possible."
