Freddie Starr funeral details released with fans asked to wear red in honour of comedian

Further details for Freddie Starr's funeral have been released, as the comedian is laid to rest in Liverpool.

Freddie died in Spain in May, after suffering a heart attack.

There were fears that Freddie would face a 'pauper's funeral' after he died penniless.

But kind funeral director Michael Fogg has stepped up and offered to pay for Freddie's funeral himself.

Michael Fogg said he will be paying for the funeral of Freddie Starr (Michael Fogg)

Freddie will be buried in his native Liverpool, with the service set to be held on Thursday June 13 at 1pm.

Now the Freddie Starr Official Facebook page has released further details of his final send-off.

It said: "The extended family of Freddie Starr would like to thank his many friends and fans for their kind and comforting words following his sad death last month.

"To confirm Freddie’s funeral will take place on Thursday June 13 at Prescot Parish Church, Prescot, Merseyside at 1pm.

"It will be a private family service but fans are welcome to pay their respects outside the church."

Fans and attendees are being asked by the family to wear either a red tie or red rose because that was the colour of his famous Teddy Boy jacket.

And instead of flowers Freddie's family are asking for donations to be made in his memory to Alder Hey Children's charity.

The post continued: "His family would also like to put on record our thanks to funeral director Michael Fogg for all his help and support at this difficult time."
