Freddie Starr dead: Comic 'feeling okay' in last Facebook post before death

Freddie Starr looked to allay the fears of his fans about his health in a series of posts in the months before his death.

The comedian, who rose to fame in the early 1970s after appearing on TV show Opportunity Knocks and the Royal Variety Performance, was found dead at his Costa Del Sol apartment on Thursday.

Since the turn of the year, Freddie had been keeping his loyal fans updated on his health problems in a number of posts on his Facebook page, that has thousands of followers.

He had posted, what is thought to be the last picture of the comic, on January 29 in which he poses against a sunny backdrop in a bright yellow Nike T-shirt and with a smile on his face.
