Freddie Mercury’s cat-scratched furniture on sale

And other stories from the stranger side of life

Freddie Mercury’s cats have left their mark on some of his treasured possessions which are to be auctioned at Sotheby’s. The Queen frontman’s feline companions – including Miko and Delilah – left scratch marks on some of the furniture items which will be going under the hammer, but Sotheby’s said that only adds to their appeal, noted The Telegraph. The other items vary from stage costumes to a Scrabble set and the 1941 Wurlitzer jukebox.

Record-breaking burp recorded

A US woman earned a Guinness World Record when she let out a burp that was measured at 107 decibels. Kimberly ‘Kimycola’ Winter said she was encouraged to seek the world record for loudest belch (female) by viewers of her YouTube and TikTok channels. She said she prepared for her big by experimenting with different foods and drinks. In the end, she had coffee and beer with her breakfast on the day of the attempt to guarantee the “maximum belch volume”, noted UPI.

‘Idiotic’ motorists helped from beach

Four motorists were branded “idiotic” after they ignored warning signs in a Cornish seaside and drove straight on to the beach, where their vehicles got stuck in the sand. The drivers had to be helped by lifeguards on Wednesday, in front of a “huge crowd clapping and cheering from the promenade” of Towan beach in Newquay, said The Times. The incident was the third in the past fortnight, reported CornwallLive.
