Freddie Ljungberg responds to Carlo Ancelotti rumours with update on Arsenal's manager search

Freddie Ljungberg has said that he has not held a conversation with Arsenal chiefs over who could take over as manager of the Gunners.

The former player has been put in temporary charge while Arsenal search for Unai Emery's replacement following his sacking almost two weeks ago.

Names such as Brendan Rodgers, Max Allegri and Mauricio Pochettino have all been linked to the job. Former Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is the latest name, after the Italian was dismissed from Napoli.

Ljungberg has previously said that he will take his role as caretaker manager on a game-to-game basis.

Arsenal 1-2 Brighton: Freddie Ljungberg full post-match press conference

Talking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Standard Liege, the caretaker manager responded to the links to Ancelotti.

"I've been asked this question a lot since I took over and I just try to concentrate on my job – to win football games and get better. Who they choose it is totally up to them but I stay out of it," he said.

Ljungberg is also one of the names in the frame to take over on a more permanent basis, however, the interim boss has said that there has been no talks with Arsenal chiefs.

"Again, that's not a conversation I've had with the bosses. My job is to go from game-to-game. All of those decisions are up to the top dogs," he added.
