Freddie Ljungberg plans to sound out Arsene Wenger and Sven-Goran Eriksson for managerial advice after being handed the reins at Arsenal.

Ljungberg was appointed as the club’s interim head coach on Friday following the sacking of Unai Emery.

It is the Swede’s first taste of first-team management, having previously been in charge of Arsenal’s Under-23s, and he has revealed he is seeking out Eriksson and Wenger for advice

Ljungberg played under Wenger at Arsenal, while Eriksson is regarded as one of the greatest coaches in Swedish history.

“I would really like to speak to him (Wenger),” said Ljungberg.

“I’m in contact with him but I haven’t spoke to him because it’s been a bit hectic, but it’s on my list to do so.

Sven is intelligent, I spoke to him a lot when he was the manager of England because he was watching our games.

“I know in the past, some stories of how he treated players and how he made them feel good and things like that.

“I have stolen a little bit of those ideas. He’s a great coach, it’s been a long time, and I hope I can speak to him soon.”
