Freddie Ljungberg opens up on Mesut Ozil's poor behaviour that saw him dropped at Arsenal

Freddie Ljungberg told Mesut Ozil "that's not how we behave at Arsenal" after he kicked his gloves in a fit of rage at being substituted against Manchester City.

The German World Cup winner picked up an injury following the 3-0 defeat, which ruled him out of Saturday's bore draw with Everton.

But interim Arsenal manager Ljungberg, who took charge of his final game at Goodison Park before Mikel Arteta officially takes the reins this Saturday, said he wouldn't have played Ozil even if he was fit.

Ljungberg said: "He [Ozil] walked off, took his things and kicked them. I said at Arsenal, that's not how we behave.

"Mesut was injured but I would not have picked him for the squad because I want to make a stance that that's not what I accept from an Arsenal football player."

Ozil, 31, wasn't even named in the squad on Saturday, with Ljungberg making a handful of changes to his starting XI.

Ahead of the game Martin Keown spoke out about the Ozil situation at Arsenal, where he suggested the German might not actually be injured.

"He's [Arteta] coming in in very difficult circumstances and Ozil is one of those issues, and Arteta has got to manage that," Keown said on BT Sport.

"He went off the pitch against City and wasn't best pleased, he didn't look particularly injured on that ocassion.

"He's probably just taken himself out of it because he thinks that Freddie wouldn't play him."
