Freddie Ljungberg has admitted he had doubts about Patrick Bamford ability to step up to the Premier League after working with Eddie Nketiah.
The Swedish coach worked in the Arsenal academy with Nketiah, before leaving the club in the summer to explore new ventures.
Marcelo Bielsa stuck with Bamford ahead of Nketiah in the Championship last season, which saw the Gunners recall their academy product six months early.
Nketiah made only two starts for Leeds up until January, before the Arsenal hierarchy opted to bring him back to the Emirates.
Nketiah has since worked his way into Mikel Arteta's first-team plans, whilst Bamford has taken to life in the top-flight like a duck to water, with seven goals in Premier League matches.
At the time, there were plenty of Leeds fans questioning whether Nketiah should have started ahead of Bamford but Bielsa's patience has paid off, with Ljungberg also admitting his doubt have since been eased.
“Bielsa has shown great belief in him as well," Ljungberg told Sky Sports ahead of kick-off against Arsenal.
"When I worked at Arsenal, we had Eddie at Leeds and they wouldn’t play him, they’d play Bamford all the time.
"He’s shown how good he is, there were a lot of questions about him. I had a question about coming up to the Premier League - could he do it? Would he be good enough?
"He’s scoring for fun, so I think he’s shown all of his doubters that he’s a very good player.”
