Freddie Kitchens wants ‘to get where the Patriots are’

Echoing the proclamation from his new star wideout, Browns coach Freddie Kitchens also invoked the name of the hallowed New England Patriots as the goal for his team.

Odell Beckham Jr. made some waves when he declared he wanted the Browns to be the new Patriots in a rambling Instagram post last week. While some cried foul, Kitchens echoed Beckham’s sentiment.

“Tom Brady has been to 9 Super Bowls and won 6 of them. I want to get to where the Patriots are. You can print that,” Kitchens declared after Wednesday’s OTA session in Berea.

As with Beckham, coach Kitchens isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel. He’s setting the bar of being a consistent contender with a tremendous deal of success. There’s not any harm in wanting to be great, even for a team that hasn’t tasted a playoff berth in over 15 years.
