Freddie Kitchens: Odell Beckham Jr. missing ‘a lot’ at OTAs

Odell Beckham Jr. remains away from the Cleveland Browns’ voluntary OTA sessions. He was not in Berea for today’s session, marking the eighth practice in a row the star wideout has missed.

While the sessions are voluntary, it’s clear Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens would prefer Beckham was in attendance and learning his new team and teammates.

Kitchens turned unusually frosty toward Beckham and his absence in a media session on Thursday.

When asked what Beckham was missing by not being at any of the OTA sessions and just one voluntary offseason workout, a bemused Kitchens quipped, “A lot — the offense.”

Kitchens is expecting Beckham to be in attendance for the next phase of the offseason, a mandatory minicamp that begins next week. This week Beckham showed off his new customized Rolls-Royce after spending the weekend in Monaco.

“It’ll be nice to have everybody here and get them some work and get everybody ready to compete during training camp, when we’re going to start forming the Cleveland Browns,” Kitchens said of the minicamp.

He added, “I just want to see (Beckham).”

Beckham has given no indication he plans to sit out any of the mandatory practices.
