Freddie Kitchens happy the Browns added ‘tough football players’ in draft

Cleveland Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens is known for his offensive mindset and easy Southern charm. But Kitchens isn’t soft, and he doesn’t want his football team to be that way, either.

In reflecting upon his first draft class as Cleveland’s head coach, Kitchens lauded the toughness of the new additions.

“Generally speaking, we want to add tough football players,” Kitchens stated in his press conference. “We have some tough football players here. In general, it is a tough game played by tough people. That is what you want. You want guys that love the game of football, and I think we have helped ourselves in that area.”

He specifically cited LB Sione Takitaki. The third-round LB from BYU brings the intensity and physicality on every rep. That’s what Kitchens said he saw from Takitaki.

“Toughness. Physical. A relentless desire on each play to get to the ball. I think that kind of sums him up. He has great length. Takes on blockers well. Does not miss many tackles.”

Those are qualities that the fans in Cleveland demand and appreciate.
