Freddie Kitchens explains why Rashard Higgins did not play vs. Seahawks

One of the bigger mysteries in the Browns’ Week 6 loss to the Seahawks is why wideout Rashard Higgins did not play. Higgins practiced all week and was active for the first time since Week 1, but Baker Mayfield’s favorite security blanket did not play a single snap vs. Seattle.

Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens addressed why in his press conference on Monday.

“I think last week was his first week truly back and I thought Antonio (Callaway) had a good week of practice,” Kitchens said in his meeting with the press “Higs (Higgins) should have played some in the game yesterday but the situation did not arise where he was in the game. We were moving the ball with three wide and one tight end. Well, not going to get into anything else and we just did not use that package. Did not feel like we needed to.”

Higgins might not have been 100 percent with his injured knee, though there was no indication of any worry about that from Kitchens.
