Freddie Kitchens disappointed in NFL for barring Kareem Hunt during his suspension

Freddie Kitchens is disappointed in the NFL’s decision to ban Kareem Hunt from Browns facilities during his 8-game suspension. The NFL ruled Hunt cannot have anything to do with the Browns, from attending meetings to getting medical treatment, starting Saturday and extending until the Monday after his lengthy suspension ends.

“Of course, we would like (Hunt) here,” Kitchens said on a conference call with the media. “We feel like we offer the best support for him. He’s comfortable with being here. He trusts us here.”

Kitchens still isn’t sure how the team will handle the disappointing setback. Hunt’s sports hernia surgery on Thursday complicates matters, too.

“As far as the specific plan for him, we really just got that answer back (on Wednesday, but we’ll develop a plan for him. We don’t have a specific thing right now.”

The coach doesn’t seem concerned about Hunt’s recovery from the surgery.

“The rehab’s four to six weeks,” Kitchens said, “and he’s got 10 weeks until he’s back with us, and he’ll be ready to go then.”
