Fred Savage jokingly tries to give away art from his Chicago-area home

April 26--Though the iconic New York Jets jacket he wore on "The Wonder Years" found a home at the National Museum of American History, Chicago-area native Fred Savage said he hasn't had luck convincing his mom to get rid of the other stuff she's been saving over the years.

"My mom's garage is full of, I mean, every piece of memorabilia from me and my brother, my sister, our childhood, our growing-up. She has old printers. She has tons of stuff in there," Savage told Conan O'Brien during Monday's episode of his talk show.

"(The museum) did want that jacket but they don't want this, like, piece of art that was on a wall in our house in Chicago that we still haven't found a place for."

"I don't know, let's check that art out," O'Brien said.

"It's not so good. It's not so good, or like a dot matrix printer. Well, maybe, I don't know," Savage said.

Savage, 39, grew up in Glencoe before moving to the West Coast to pursue acting. He stars on the Fox legal sitcom "The Grinder" with Rob Lowe.

"Conan" airs 10 p.m. weeknights on TBS.
