Fred's plans to regain Man Utd place outlined after early season snub

Manchester United midfielder Fred has organised personal fitness sessions in a bid to win his Old Trafford place back.

Fred, a £52m signing just over a year ago, has not featured in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first three squads of the season.

He has been linked with a move away from United before the end of the European transfer window, with Fiorentina reportedly interested.

Reports earlier this week suggested the Serie A side had an £18m turned down for the Brazilian, with United holding out for around £27m.

But Fred has no intention of walking away from Old Trafford.

The 26-year-old has organised additional fitness sessions to improve his conditioning, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Fred wants to be able to meet Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's tactical demands and is working closely with Professor LC Cameron of the Laboratory of Protein Biochemistry in Rio de Janeiro.

Fred scheduled his wedding in early July and missed a large chunk of pre-season, much to the dismay of United supporters.

Solskjaer has preferred Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay as his first-choice midfield pairing at the start of the season.

Andreas Pereira has also featured with Nemanja Matic slipping down the pecking order.

And with Solskjaer preferring two sitting midfielders in the first weeks of the season, Fred is likely to face an uphill battle to work his way back into United's side.

The Red Devils return to action this weekend against Southampton before the international break, and Fred is likely to use the fortnight to step up his fitness and prove himself again to boss Solskjaer.
