Fred's Manchester United stats vs Liverpool FC are amazing

While the 2-0 defeat against Liverpool was a harrowing day for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and many of the travelling supporters at Anfield, one man stood tall.

Manchester United midfielder Fred enjoyed a superb performance, almost inspiring his side to a 1-1 draw as he dominated the midfield in the second half — and went close to levelling himself.

The Brazilian's performance won praise from after the Liverpool game and also from fellow midfielder

"It's great to play next to him," when asked about his midfield partner.

"Fred had a great game today, he always gives his best, fighting for the team, exactly the same as I'm doing and we will continue to do our work and that's it. Keep fighting, working every day for this club until the end."

And the stats back up Fred's performance level. No United player in match better his numbers for attempted passes, successful passes, final third passes, ball recoveries, interceptions, successful take-ons, tackles won or key passes.

He enjoyed 96 touches of the ball,, with an 83 per cent pass accuracy and even completed three successful dribbles.

Although ultimately it wasn't enough to help United get any points from the game, it's yet more evidence that Fred is stepping up when needed for United.

Solskjaer recently lauded the £52million signing — who is now making good on that transfer fee — and will need more of the same in the absence of key midfielders Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay as United battle to finish fourth.
