Fred reveals the 'really important' role he plays for Manchester United

Fred has lifted the lid on the key role Manchester United's more experienced players have in the first-team squad.

The 28-year-old is one of the oldest members of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's senior set-up and admits it is his responsibility to give advice to the younger players coming through.

After a tricky start to life at Old Trafford the Brazilian midfielder has established himself as a key figure in the squad and remains one of the most regular appearance makers under Solskjaer.

His experiences during three years in Manchester put him in good stead to pass on advice to the young players in the United squad and he admits it is a 'really important' attribute of his duty as a senior player.

Speaking about his time at the club Fred spoke of his responsibilities as an older player in the squad and named himself amongst seven experienced players who have a key mentoring role.

"As we get older and more experienced we pass on our ideas to the younger players," he told official club media.

"There are a lot of experienced players here like Juan (Mata), Nemanja (Matic), Paul (Pogba), myself, Harry Maguire, Alex (Telles), Bruno (Fernandes).

"We more experienced players try and give good advice to the younger players to help their development and help the on the pitch in training.

"It's really important and makes me happy."
