Fred lifts lid on Bruno Fernandes impact at Manchester United

Fred admits he was 'surprised' by the enormity of Bruno Fernandes' immediate impact at Manchester United last year.

Fernandes, 26, arrived at United from Sporting Lisbon in the January transfer window a year ago and immediately brought a winning mentality to the first-team squad.

The Portuguese midfielder didn't take long to establish himself as one of the most important players at United netting 34 goals and notching 21 assists in his 62 appearances so far.

Fernandes has helped improve the creativity in United's midfield and teammate Fred has lifted the lid on his impact at the club.

“I think it surprised," Fred told ESPN Brasil. "His impact was very fast, you know. He arrived here and already took over the midfield, called for the lead and took it.

"I think he’s a great player, he came here to help us. I’m very happy with this. He’s a very good guy, we see that he works a lot on a daily basis. A guy who’s always trying to win, you know? He doesn’t like to lose. So his mentality is very cool, very good.”

Speaking about his own form Fred admitted he is currently enjoying his best season at the club and he is hoping to crown it with some silverware.

He added: "I think this season is definitely being my best. I’m having more games, playing with the coach’s confidence, with the confidence up there. This is important. I hope to continue doing a great job here, keep playing a lot, and I want to help the team win many titles.”
