Fred described Manchester United’s win over Crystal Palace as “magical” after scoring the winner on a standout day at Old Trafford.
The midfielder struck with less than 15 minutes to go to secure his side a 1-0 victory in Ralf Rangnick’s first game in charge of United.
Despite only having a couple of days to work with his new side ahead of kick-off, United displayed signs of improvement under their interim manager as they kept a rare clean sheet on their way to victory.
Fred’s winner was the icing on the cake for Rangnick, with the Brazilian curling home his effort from the edge of the penalty area superbly to cap off a memorable afternoon all-round.
The midfielder posted a picture of himself celebrating on Instagram after the game, alongside the caption: “What a magical afternoon. Thanks God!”
The result continued what has been a mini-resurgence from United following the sacking of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, having won three of their last four games in all competitions.
The win over Palace though was arguably the most important yet as Rangnick stepped into the dugout for the first time as the new era began at Old Trafford.
Reacting to his goal with MUTV, Fred said: "It was good to score in the game but today we win one-nil and my goal is so important. But the most important was the win of the team, the performance, we play very well, clean sheet.
"The first game of the new coach is so important for us."
