Fred explains what makes Bruno Fernandes different from other Manchester United players

Fred has revealed the main trait that sets Bruno Fernandes apart from his other Manchester United teammates.

Having arrived at the club from Sporting Lisbon last January - for an initial fee around £47million - Fernandes has quickly become the go-to man at Old Trafford.

Indeed, in those 14 months, he has already scored 35 goals and added 19 assists in just 63 appearances.

The latest of those goals came during the Manchester derby on Sunday afternoon - and the Portuguese playmaker is, once again, primed to lead the United charge in their Europa League tie against AC Milan.

Fred, meanwhile, could start alongside Fernandes in the first leg of their last-16 clash against the Italian giants.

But what it is about the four-time Premier League player of the month winner that sets him apart from other top players - both at Old Trafford and beyond?

In an interview on YouTube channel O Clube, translated from Portuguese, Fred said: "It's awesome having Bruno as a team-mate. A guy who came here at the beginning of last year, we've been together ever since.

"It's turned out that we made a nice relationship on and off the pitch. It is so cool.

"He's a leader. Inside the locker room, despite arriving recently, he is a leader. He's a guy who doesn't like to lose at all - not even in (training game) 'odds and evens'.

"I root for him a lot. I'm sure he will continue to help us, seeking to improve every day. He's a guy who works a lot."

Fred also added what he felt was Fernandes' 'differential' trait to set him apart from other players.

"I think he is very smart on the pitch, you know? He thinks so fast. He can find a pass that no-one can, in that moment, and he has a very quick reaction to find that pass.

"Sometimes the ball goes to him and, with only one touch, he can make the striker face the goal. That is what makes him different.

"This helps him a lot to score goals and assists, his mind speed."
