Fred drops Manchester United team news hint ahead of Liverpool FC fixture

Manchester United midfielder Fred appears to have dropped a hint that he will be involved in some capacity when Liverpool visit Old Trafford this afternoon.

The Brazilian midfielder, who was forced off in the latter stages of Wednesday evening's sensational 3-2 win over Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League with a knock, has been considered as an injury doubt ahead of this afternoon's highly anticipated Premier League clash.

Speaking on Friday, United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed that he could be without up to three senior figures against Liverpool with Fred being one of them, alongside both Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford.

Unlike Fernandes and Rashford, Fred was not pictured arriving at The Lowry Hotel last night with the rest of the squad, raising doubts that he had made the cut and been deemed fit enough for selection.

However, in line with the government's ruling on international travel in regards to the coronavirus pandemic, anyone arriving from red list countries is required to isolate for ten days, which Fred did having returned from international duty with Brazil.

In Fred's case, that is still required, but he can link-up with the United squad for their fixtures, as was the case against Atalanta in midweek. The midfielder was away with the Brazil squad over the international break and has not yet completed the required quarantine period, meaning he could not spend last night with the rest of the United squad.

However, Fred now appears to have dropped a potential hint that he has overcome his injury problem and is available for selection this afternoon.

That is because he has taken to Instagram to upload a matchday graphic to his Story, featuring a picture of himself, the fixture and kick-off time.

That suggests that he will be involved this afternoon and offer Solskjaer another option in midfield, as the Reds look to arrest their three-match winless run in the Premier League.

Considering Fernandes and Rashford were with the squad last night, it is highly possible that all three of Solskjaer's injury concerns on Friday may now be a thing of the past.

The United boss, speaking 48 hours ago, said: "It's still just Friday, the game's on Sunday, we'll give everyone time. We might have the whole squad back fit, we might be two or three players down. Today we didn't have everyone [in training]. Let's see Sunday.

"Games like Wednesday night are always going bring knocks and bruises and, yeah, we do have two or three carrying knocks from that game. I'll give everyone time. hope I can pick from a fully fit squad, I might be without two or three.
