Fred congratulates Alex Telles on debut season at Manchester United

Fred has congratulated teammate Alex Telles on his debut season with Manchester United.

The Brazilian left-back moved to Old Trafford last October on deadline day of the summer transfer window as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looked to strengthen his defensive options.

Telles, 28, arrived with much fanfare but has struggled for playing time in his first season at the club due to the phenomenal form of revitalised left-back Luke Shaw.

The English full-back is tipped to win the club's own Player of the Year award and has been the standout left-back in the Premier League this season, something which has limited Telles to only 18 appearances across all competitions.

Despite his reduced role Fred is delighted with the performances from Telles and believes his compatriot deserves huge credit for adapting to life in England so fast.

"As it's Alex's first season here, there's the adaptation process," Fred answered in a Q&A with official club media.

"It's difficult to come from a club like Porto, a big club, but to come to a club the size of United. It's very difficult, I know what it's like, my first season here was very difficult.

"I'm really happy to be here to help Alex during this first season, Bruno helps a lot as well.

"He's been having a good season, there's great competition for the left-back position between him and Luke Shaw. Luke Shaw is also playing very well, and when Alex has played he's put in great performances.

"I'm always talking to him, telling him to continue working hard, continue playing well and the opportunities will come, to keep working as he's having a good season and to do his best on the pitch whenever the opportunity comes about to keep up the good work there's nothing more to say than that, he's doing very well this season. Congratulations."
