Fred has spoken of the "distrust" faced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Manchester United's drop-off in form saw them slip off the pace in the title race.
After facing intense pressure early in the season, Solskjaer is under the spotlight again as his United side prepare to face rivals Manchester City.
The Red Devils remain second ahead of their trip to the Etihad for Sunday's derby - but are now 14 points behind the Premier League leaders, having won just two of their last seven top-flight fixtures.
Solskjaer's men have failed to score in the last two games, after 0-0 draws against Crystal Palace and Chelsea allowed their near neighbours to extend their lead at the top. United also registered a goalless draw with Real Sociedad in the Europa League.
Fred says Solskjaer was always going to be under extreme scrutiny in the Old Trafford hotseat - but says he is becoming a better manager every day.
“With each passing day, you see his evolution," Fred told ESPN Brazil, cited by Sport Witness. "I really like to see him here. I think there will always be distrust.
"You being in a big club like this one, a lot of people want to see you badly, there’s no way. But you have to stay strong and I think he has a good head."
Fred says Solskjaer's iconic standing as former United player helps him relate to his squad.
The former striker hung up his boots in 2007, having fired 126 goals for United, helping to fire them to six Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the Champions League triumph which capped a historic treble in 1999.

“He was a player, he’s been on this side," said Fred.
"So he knows how to deal with us. He talks a lot with the players. I think this is what sets him apart.
"He’s always playing with us, supporting us, helping us in positioning, on a daily basis. He’s a guy who’s always close and this is very important for the player.”
