Freak collision leaves car stuck on two wheels following County Durham crash

A driver had a lucky escape after a freak collision left their car balanced on two wheels.

The incident happened on Twelfth Street, in Horden, at around 7am on Saturday morning.

The silver Volkswagen could be seen with one wheel resting on the driver's window of the parked car.

Durham Constabulary were called to the incident and said no one was injured, while bystanders could be seen in the street.

Liam Brookes, who took the picture, said: “I was leaving the house to head to work and there were police cars on the street, people were gathered around, a car had somehow driven onto another car.”

A Durham Constabulary spokesman said: “We were called at 7am to a road traffic collision. There were no injuries.”

Social media users were amused by the incident, with one woman saying: "A new way to park your vehicle."

While another person wrote: “Mayhem in Costa Del Horden 10/10 for parking skill.”

One man said: “Well officers, I’ve seen those stunt drivers doing it on two wheels so I thought I’d give it a go. All was going well until….”
