Fraud man topped up his car on the company account

A lighting firm in Ayr was stiffed for £380 after an employee went on a spending spree with the company credit card.

Robert McSeveney ran up the three-figure sum of debt as he filled up his car on the company fuel payment card.

Once the crimes were uncovered McSeveney resigned from his position at the firm.

McSeveney, aged 35, of Hillside Court, Stevenson, appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court on Tuesday, November 19.

He admitted fuel fraud on various occasions between August 2 2018 and August 4 2018, both dates inclusive at Morrisons, Kilwinning Road, Stevenston and Morrisons, Dukes Road, Troon.

He pretended to be his supervisor, Brian Davis, from the firm, in Callander Road, Ayr, in order to obtain the fuel.

McSeveney was sentenced to 120 hours of unpaid work in the community, to be completed within the next six months.

He must also pay back the £380 to his former employers.
