Fraser Forster 'unfairly priced' claim as Celtic transfer deal in doubt over huge valuation

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has accused Southampton of pricing Fraser Forster out of a dream move back to Celtic.

A report has emerged suggesting the Saints value their rejuvenated keeper at over £10million, an incredible fee for a player who has barely seen action since December 2017 and is considered third choice behind Alex McCarthy and Angus Gunn.

The Premier League club have the player under contract until 2022 and clearly feel his outstanding loan spell gives them an opportunity to secure a hefty fee for the 32-year-old former England stopper.

But Robinson reckons the situation is unfair on the Geordie as he's been so far out of the first team picture doesn't south.

He told Football Insider: “Southampton have unfairly priced him out of a deal at the moment.

"We are talking about a player who has not been anywhere near the first team squad in 12-18 months. He was surplus to requirements.

“He has gone to Celtic and rejuvenated his career and now looks like a top class goalkeeper again.”

6 times capped Forster was a mainstay at the Hoops last season, ousting Craig Gordon and Scott Bain from the top spot.

His performance in the Betfred Cup Final win over Rangers, where he saved a penalty and made numerous excellent stops, was widely acclaimed as one of the best goalkeeping performances in recent memory.
