Fraser Forster starts for Celtic against Hearts as Craig Gordon is dumped on to the bench

Neil Lennon has parachuted Fraser Forster straight into his starting line-up just three days after rejoining Celtic.

The keeper signed for the champions from Southampton on Thursday for a season-long loan.

And despite having made just one Premier League appearance since Boxing Day 2017, Forster starts today against Hearts while Craig Gordon is dumped on to the bench.

Forster was announced as Celtic’s fourth first-team signing of the summer 25 minutes in to the Europa League win over AIK.

The 31-year-old was then paraded on the pitch at half time of the game in which Gordon had the gloves.

But the Scotland keeper has been axed by Lennon and with Scott Bain injured, Forster has the chance to make himself undisputed No.1.

Forster will wear the No.67 shirt as Celtic bid to see off Hearts and remain top of the Premiership table.

He earned the nickname from Spanish media La Gran Muralla, which translates as the Great Wall, after his heroics in the 2-1 win over Barcelona in 2012.

Forster made 160 appearances for Celtic between 2010 and 2014.

There’s also a first start for Vakoun Issouf Bayo.

Celtic team: Forster, Ajer, Jullien, Bitton, Bolingoli, Brown, McGregor, Christie, Ntcham, Forrest, Bayo. Subs: Gordon, Ralston, Hayes, Shved, Johnston, Griffiths, Edouard
