Fraser Forster Southampton future update as former Celtic loanee hunts for 'right solution'

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl admits the club is undecided over what to do with Fraser Forster – but insisted the keeper is keen on securing a permanent transfer.

The goalkeeper spent last season on loan at Celtic, helping them to win a ninth title in a row.

Boss Neil Lennon was keen to bring the England international back, and the two clubs had reached an agreement on a loan with option to buy.

That was rejected, but the Saints manager has hinted a permanent deal might still be possible.

Asked about the goalkeeper Hasenhuttl said: "We have not decided what we do next season with our plans in this direction.

“Of our loan players, some did a very good job there and it’s also clear that loan players don’t want to go again on loan.

“Normally they want to go permanently somewhere and we will find the right solution for every player in the summer. When the right moment is to discuss it, then we do it.”

Forster's decision has left the Hoops looking for a new man between the sticks next season.

Joe Hart is one concrete option, while the Premiership champions have also been linked with Manchester City's Claudio Bravo.
