Fraser Forster's fresh Celtic transfer hope as John Kennedy backs board to 'produce something'

John Kennedy has given the clearest indication yet Celtic are willing to push the boat out to land Fraser Forster this summer.

The Southampton keeper has been exceptional during his 12-month loan deal with his penalty saves in Europe and the Betfred Cup Final pivotal for Neil Lennon's side.

A report from The Athletic on Saturday stated the England international was 'willing' to take a pay cut to pave the way for a permanent Celtic return.

And now the Hoops No.2 has admitted he believes the Premiership champions won't hesitate if the Saints make Forster available in the summer.

Kennedy, speaking to the Sunday Post , said: "If there is a deal to be done, the club can produce something and a deal between Southampton and Fraser is possible, then I’m pretty sure we would try to do it.

“If Fraser became available we would want him. He has been terrific and made big saves at the big moments."

Forster's exploits have been a key reason why the Hoops reached the last 32 of the Europa League and his save in the first leg against Copenhagen has the tie poised at 1-1.

The 31-year-old has rediscovered his best form under Lennon and goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods again with the pair's influence vital before he left Celtic to join Southampton in a £10m deal back in 2014.
