Fraser Forster in Celtic SOS as another Southampton loan approach 'lined up' for former Parkhead hero

Celtic could make a shock move for Fraser Forster as the Parkhead club send out an SOS to the former Hoops goalie, according to a report.

New manager Ange Postecoglou is said to be mulling his goalkeeping options going into the Champions League campaign and the Premiership opener against Hearts at the end of the month.

He has rotated his keepers in pre-season and gave a half each to Vasilis Barkas and Scott Bain in Saturday's 1-0 friendly loss to Preston.

But former favourite Forster is being eyed up for another loan in Glasgow's east end, according to the Scottish Sun.

The big shot-stopper became a hero in his initial spell, beginning with two seasons on loan from Newcastle before a permanent deal and subsequent £10m sale to Southampton.

He would return for the 2019-20 season at the request of Neil Lennon and his heroics in the League Cup Final against Rangers that term was one of his finest matches for the club.

But Celtic were unable to tempt him back for last campaign's attempt at 10 In A Row – which contributed to their dismal league showing.

It's said they're looking at another year-long spell but this time would have to pay substantially more of Forster's hefty Premier League wage.
