Fraser Forster being 'priced out' of Celtic move by Southampton according to former England goalkeeper

Fraser Forster is being priced out of a move to Celtic according to former England ‘keeper Paul Robinson.

The Saints are reportedly seeking a fee of £10million for Forster, who has’t played for the English Premier League outfit since December 2017 and is firmly behind Alex McCarthy an Angus Gunn in the pecking order.

The 32-year-old still has two years left on his deal at St Mary’s but Neil Lennon is keen to make his loan spell permanent.

But Forster’s impression form for the Hoops and their known desire to sign the 32-year-old has strengthened Southampton’s hand.

And Robinson believes that’s not on given Raplh Hassenhuttl clearly doesn’t have Forster in his future plans.

“Southampton have unfairly priced him out of a deal at the moment,” he told Football Insider.

"We are talking about a player who has not been anywhere near the first team squad in 12-18 months. He was surplus to requirements.

“He has gone to Celtic and rejuvenated his career and now looks like a top class goalkeeper again.”

Celtic want to address the goalkeeping situation sooner rather than later, with Craig Gordon out of contract although a new deal has been offered.

Scott Bain has struggled with injury this year and Forster would come in as the established first choice and hit the ground running given his familiarity with the club and Scottish Premiership.
