Frantic search launched to find vulnerable schoolgirl who vanished from Ayrshire home

Cops are hunting for a vulnerable schoolgirl who has vanished from her home sparking a frantic search.

Officers from Police Scotland are looking for Kerys Lynch who has been missing from Kilwinning, North Ayrshire, overnight.

The 12-year-old was last seen at around 12.30 pm yesterday afternoon, September 14.

The youngster has no money and concern is growing for her safety.

She is described as white, 5 ft 2, of medium build, with long blond/fair hair.

She was wearing a floral crop top, blue denim shorts and black trainers.

Cops believe she may be in the Irvine area.

Sergeant Claire Walker, Irvine Police Station, said: "When Kerys didn't return home last night, and after not being able to trace her, she was reported missing to police around 11pm.

"We have had officers out searching and making enquires in the areas she is known to frequent, usually, Irvine, Largs and around North Ayrshire, but so far we have had no sight of her.

"The fact that she has been away overnight, and as she is only 12-years-old, is a concern for everyone.

"It appears that she may be in the North Ayrshire area, possibly Irvine, but that has very much still to be confirmed.

"She has no money with her as far as we are aware but has her phone.

"We would ask people to keep an eye out for her and if seen, please contact police.

"We would appeal especially to Kerys' friends - if she has been in touch then let us know.

"We just want to make sure she is safe and well."
