Missing hillwalker who never returned home 'traced safe and well' after search

Police have traced a missing hillwalker who initially failed to retur home from a hike.

John Alexander Gardiner, 32, had been last seen in the mountains to the north east of Blair Atholl, Perthshire, at around 7.30pm on Saturday.

The keen climber had scaled Carn Nan Gabhar, one of three Munros part of the Beinn a' Ghlò mountain.

Officers have since confirmed that he has been traced and is "safe and well".

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We can confirm that John Gardiner, 32, who was reported missing from Blair Atholl, Perth, has been traced safe and well.

"Thank you to everyone who shared our earlier appeal."
