Frantic search launched for fisherman who vanished from loch on Easter Sunday

A frantic search has been launched to trace a missing fisherman who was last seen at a loch.

David Mooney, from Paisley, had been on a weekend fishing trip with friends at Loch Cluanie in the Highlands when he disappeared around 1.30pm on Easter Sunday.

Police say the 43-year-old left his friends unexpectedly and has not been seen since.

Officers are growing increasingly concerned as it is out of character for David not to be in contact with friends or family.

The force believes David got a bus or another form of transport from the A87 to head back to Paisley.

David is described as 5ft7in tall, of medium build with short black hair.

When he was last seen, he was wearing a black Berghaus jacket, green fishing trousers, black trainers and a yellow hat.

Anyone who has information about David’s whereabouts or who thinks they may have seen him since 1.30pm on Sunday is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference number 2423 of 17 April, 2022.
