A missing schoolgirl has been found almost 10 miles from her home after her frantic mum "feared the worst".
We told how Abigail Redmond, 12, vanished from her school, St Andrew’s Secondary in Glasgow's East End, at 11.30am on Monday.
The Easterhouse schoolgirl's panic-stricken mum, Lisa Carruthers, called police at around 6pm on Monday, having not seen or heard from Abigail in almost seven hours.
Police on Tuesday morning confirmed a search was underway amid a string of desperate online appeals from locals.
A few hours later, a "relieved" Lisa told the Record that Abigail had been found almost 10 miles from home, in Glasgow's Govanhill.

She believes Abigail travelled from the East End to the South Side with "an older girl not known to the family", sparking fear among loved ones.
While "thankful" that her daughter was traced, Lisa awaits Abigail's return home as she reflected on what was a "terrifying" time for the family.
She said: "Police have just told us that they've found Abigail somewhere in Govanhill. She travelled there with an older girl last night, who we don't know.
"I'm so relived. Abigail never does anything like this, we really feared the worst it was terrifying."
She added: "We're so thankful to be getting her home, I can't wait to see her.
"I don't know the details of what's happened so I just want to know that she is safe. This could have been a lot worse."
Previously, the distressed mum had taken to social media to share a number of social media appeals in a bid to bring her daughter home.
She wrote on Monday: "Has anyone seen my daughter Abigail Redmond? She has been missing from school since 11.30am we are worried sick."
Hours later Lisa appealed directly to Abigail promising "big hugs" for the then-missing schoolgirl.
The Daily Record have contacted police for further comment.
