Frantic owners’ heartbreaking plea for lost dog - but if you spot her, be sure not to give chase

The distraught owners of a lost dog have put out a heartbreaking appeal to people in Edinburgh, if you spot this lost dog, please don’t chase her, but call the number below.

Catherine Macdonald said her new pooch Stevie went missing at 7.30am this morning from Bruntsfield after she got spooked on her morning walk and slipped her collar.

Catherine and partner Ian have only had Stevie for two days, she is a rescue and a former street dog from Romania and she will run away if chased, they said.

“She’s very timid,” Catherine said.

The distraught couple have been scouring the city all day for lost Stevie (Facebook / Edinburgh and Lothian lost dogs)

“She doesn’t like being clapped on the backside because we think she wasn’t very well treated before we adopted her.

“She won’t respond to calling. She usually responds to food.

“If you’re very gentle she’ll probably come up to you if she likes the look of you.”

Stevie doesn’t have a collar but she has a microchip and is registered to Catharine and Ian.

“Her street dog instincts will have kicked in. We haven’t introduced her to other dogs yet – so if someone has another dog we’d ask them not to approach and just call us please.”

She was spotted by a member of the public near the Castle this morning (Facebook / Lost pets Edinburgh)

The heartbroken couple spoke to Edinburgh Live as they were drove around the city following up on sightings of Stevie sent to the Edinburgh and Lothian lost dogs facebook page today.

The couple have been scouring the city for Stevie, after several sightings were reported throughout the day: “Ian’s been from Bruntsfield right down Leith and back, all round the castle, Calton Hill.”

Ian said she’d been spotted at the castle at 8am and on Drummond Place at 9am then running through St. Mark’s park along Beaverhall road onto Broughton at about 1pm.

If you spot Stevie, who is a three year old mongrel, please call Catherine and Ian on 07932 818344.
