Franklin poised for AFL return with Sydney

Sydney's Lance Franklin is on track to play against Adelaide - his first AFL game in 19 months. (AAP)

Sydney coach John Longmire has indicated Lance Franklin will make his AFL return against Adelaide on Saturday.

The four-time Coleman medallist hasn't played at the top level since the final round of the 2019 season due to groin, hamstring and calf issues.

But he impressed in one half for the Swans' reserves on the weekend to push his case for a start against the Crows at the SCG.

"He's done a lot of work and he's been training for quite a while, so it will be good to get him back in the team," Longmire said.

Both sides are coming off upset round one wins, Adelaide surprising grand finalists Geelong and the young Swans impressing against Brisbane at the Gabba.
