Frankie Dettori WON'T be at Hamilton Park due to legendary jockey's ban

Racing legend Frankie Dettori won't be appearing at Hamilton Park Racecourse this month after incurring another ban.

He was due to appear at the popular venue as part of his final season before retiring from the saddle.

The 52-year-old Italian was banned earlier this month for careless riding, but overuse of a whip on another occasion in June means he is banned from July 13 to 15 and 17 to 21, with the final date of that ruling him out of the G4 Claims Glasgow Stakes Racenight.

Dettori used the whip seven times rather than the six permitted on flat races, while riding Inspiral in the Queen Anne Stakes on June 20, incurring the eight-day ban.

The popular figure is widely regarded as the greatest jockey of all time, winning more than 500 group races, including 20 winners of the British classics, most notably steering Chaldean to victory in the 2000 Guineas.

A statement issued by Hamilton Park read: "All the team at Hamilton Park have worked extremely hard with Frankie's team to make it work, but it has not been possible on this occasion.

"We are so excited to have a fantastic evening of top-quality racing with not one but two feature races."

The popular racecourse has tribute acts Simple Minded and Deacon Blues performing after the races take place at the event on July 21..
