Frankie Dettori sends message to fans from Covid quarantine as he misses £80k winner

Frankie Dettori has sent a message to his fans while spending his sixth day stuck in Covid quarantine.

The top jockey flew out to Dubai to compete when he tested positive for the virus.

He missed out on Real World's £80,000 win in Meydan's Zabeel Mile on Friday – and now has to wait until he gets the all-clear.

Dettori, champion jockey on three occasions, said he feels in good health as his unexpected stay continues.

He has sent several messages to his 82,000 Twitter followers during his time indoors.

"Hi guys. Day six in the Big Brother house," he said in a video on the social media platform.

"Unfortunately I'm still positive so I can't leave the premises. I should test myself day by day and hopefully I'll be out soon. (It's) a bit frustrating because I feel great but it is what it is. Ciao."

Dettori, who previously said he is vaccinated against Covid-19, was last in action at Meydan on January 21, when he won on 7-1 shot Island Falcon.

The horse comes from the same stable as Real World and is also owned by worldwide racing operation Godolphin.

Their trainer, Saeed bin Suroor, said the first-named horse might head to the $20 million Saudi Cup later this month.

"He has come out of the race well. He is fresh and happy and I am happy with him," he added.

"He was 90 per cent ready to go, which is why we started him over the mile. He showed some speed, but the best trip for him is a mile to a mile and a quarter.

"He is in good form and was invited yesterday for the Saudi Cup. We have plenty of time to decide whether to run there as it is not until February 26, so we will see."
