Frankie Dettori could cost bookies hundreds of millions as he nears Royal Ascot six-timer

Bookmakers are bracing themselves for a monster €200m payout as Frankie Dettori nears completing a clean sweep at Royal Ascot.

The jockey has won the first four races today with A'ali (5/1), Sangarius (13/2), Star Catcher (4/1) and Stradivarius (Evens).

And he is on the favourites for the last two races as punters are piling on the Italian to go through the full card.

The man-of-the-moment's next mount is Turgenev (2/1) in the 5.00 race which has been cut from 12/1 the last hour.

And if second-favourite Questionnaire (12/1 into 7/4) wins the last, trading floors will be in meltdown with pays out close to €200m.

Dettori famously won all seven races on the card at Ascot in 1997 and another perfect day would leaves the bookies on the floor.

Oddschecker spokesperson Callum Wilson: "Frankie Dettori is showing why he is one of the most revered flat jockeys in history as he looks to go through the card at Royal Ascot in a feat that would write him into folklore.

"His popularity means recreational punters will have chanced their arms on the man on fire and bookies are taking evasive action on his last three rides of the day."
