Frankie Boyle has joked he "bought fireworks" in case Boris Johnson died of coronavirus.
The controversial comedian has sparked outrage by laughing about planning a celebration if the prime minister had lost his battle with Covid-19.
Boyle tweeted: " Boris Johnson said contingency plans were made for his death. That’s true - I’d bought fireworks."
The funnyman referenced Johnson's recent remarks in which the Tory leader revealed contingency plans had been put in place to keep the government running in case he didn't pull through.
The PM spent three nights in intensive care during his battle with coronavirus, but has since gone on to make a full recovery.

Frankie's tweet sparked fury among some of his followers, with one replying sarcastically: "Wishing for someone to die. Such class."
Others compared him to Harry Potter actress Miriam Margolyes, who faced a major backlash after she declared she wished for Johnson to die from coronavirus.
One tweeted: "Careful! You’ll be on the naughty step with Miriam Margolyes..."

Another added: "Please tell me you will be inviting the fabulous Miriam Margolyes to help light the fireworks...???"
Broadcasting watchdog Ofcom received more than 240 complaints about Margolyes' comments on a lockdown version of Channel 4 comedy show The Last Leg.
The actress admitted she "had difficulty not wanting Boris Johnson to die".
Margolyes added: "I wanted him to. Then I thought that will reflect badly on me, and I don't want to be the sort of person that wants people to die.
"So then I wanted him to get better, which he did do, he did get better.
"But he didn't get better as a human being. And I really would prefer that."
