Frankie and Benny's to giveaway vegan hot dogs to Scots students

Frankie and Benny's is helping Scots students with their return to university this week by offering them vegan hot-dogs completely free of charge.

The giveaway is part of the American/Italian themed restaurant chains popular 'Vegan Hotdog University Tour' which kicked off in England at the start of the year.

Now the chain will be visiting Scotland as part of the second phase of the tour, with students at Glasgow University and Edinburgh University being treated to the tasty giveaway this week.

The tour will stop at Glasgow University today (Monday, March 7) and Edinburgh University tomorrow (Tuesday, March 8), where hungry students can claim the freebie.

Initially kicking off in Nottingham Trent University in late January 2022, the giveaway received positive feedback from students after it moved to Bristol Uni, Manchester Met, Leicester University, Birmingham City University, Nottingham Uni, Plymouth Uni, Sheffield Uni and Leeds Beckett.

As part of the tour students can try out the restaurant chain's new 'Vegan Dog', which they launched in January to mark this year's Veganuary.

The plant-based option is is described as a 'juicy plant-based hotdog that is served on a soft glazed roll, with fried onions, gherkins, fiery chillies, BBQ sauce and delicious vegan mayo.'

Gabby Barysaite, Senior Brand Manager, Frankie & Benny’s, said: “Our recent ‘Vegan Hotdog University Tour’ has proved to be such a hit, and with such positive feedback from students across the country, it’s a programme that we’re committed to continuing – with a focus on universities in Scotland and Wales.”

We pride ourselves on our vegan and vegetarian menus and as a company it’s something that we’re always looking to adapt and update.

We hope that some of the students that tried our vegan hotdogs at their universities were suitably impressed and will look to plan a trip to their nearest restaurant soon.”

And, there's not only free plant-based hot dogs up for grabs, as the food-chain will also be handing out vouchers to each student who visits their food truck.

The vouchers will let students access some freebies on their next Frankie and Benny's trip, with some in with the chance of winning Frankie’s for a year when they sign up with the brand.

Those interested in the giveaway are encouraged to follow the brand on social media, where they will be provided with updates on the tour.
