Frank Warren says Tyson Fury's win over Deontay Wilder will have “frightened the life” out of Anthony Joshua

Frank Warren believes Tyson Fury’s dominant Las Vegas win over Deontay Wilder will have “frightened the life” out of his heavyweight rivals.

The Gypsy King retained his WBC heavyweight title in the early hours of Sunday morning thanks to a thrilling knockout win over Wilder.

Fury picked himself up off the canvas on two occasions to ultimately beat the Amerian in the 11th round of a sure-fire Fight of the Year candidate, reports The Mirror.

It marked a definitive end to the pair’s stunning trilogy which has placed Fury right at the very top of the boxing world.

The third bout was only sanctioned after the Bronze Bomber won a courtroom battle to ensure his rematch clause was honoured.

That saw an all-British unification fight between Anthony Joshua and Fury hit the skids, despite months of negotiations.

Joshua instead took on Oleksandr Usyk, where he was comprehensively outpointed to lose his version of the heavyweight belt.

And Fury’s promoter Warren, believes that Fury’s performance was so impressive that AJ will have been relieved that the fight didn’t ever materialise.

“Look at the comparison between Tyson’s and AJ’s performances,” Warren said. “If Joshua has just watched that it will have frightened the life out of him.”

Having beaten Wilder, Fury now looks set to take on Dillian Whyte, as long as he can overcome Otto Wallin in an eliminator later this month.

And while Fury has suggested he will have at least one more fight Stateside, Warren has hinted that a homecoming bout is on the radar.

“I would love a homecoming more than anything, for the British fans and everything,” the promoter added.

“Fury is the best heavyweight of his generation and he is up there with all of them.

“Look at his size and chin and his heart to keep getting up off the floor, he gets up.

“That was the best heavyweight fight I’ve seen.

“He would be a stand-out performer in any era, for anybody.

“Tyson sells out any stadium in Britain, easy, big time, the fans will come out for him.

“Everything is possible and we will just sit down and look at how we do everything.”

Speaking after the decisive victory over Wilder, Fury claimed he was not only the best heavyweight of the current era, but comparable to any fighter in the history of the sport.

“I can only beat whoever’s in my era and I’ve done that all my life,” Fury said. “I can only be the best of my day and I’ve done that. I’m the greatest heavyweight of my era, without a doubt.

“There’s a long, long line of [great champions] and they go right back to John L Sullivan, Jack Dempsey, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis, Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, Ken Norton, Joe Frazier, the Klitschko brothers, even the guys from today like Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk and everybody else.

“They’re all good champions, but without sounding too sharp and clever, I’d place myself right on top of the pile.

“I believe that I could beat anyone in history. Any man born, I believe I’ve got a really good chance of beating him.”
